A Great Weekend

I guess my weekend really started on Thursday with my birthday. Adam and I met Dad, Kurt, Dale & Karen, Al & Patti, and Mark at Woody's Smoke Shack for dinner. I had ribs and was in heaven! Friday morning Adam had zoo camp so I dropped him off and Dad treated me to breakfast at the Waveland Cafe. Believe it or not I have lived 35 years in the Des Moines area and had never had breakfast there. After zoo camp Adam and I had lunch at Tasty Taco. Kurt was busy at work so he had to miss out. After lunch Adam went to spend the afternoon with Grandpa Al and Uncle Mark while I went to the quilt store.
This weekend was the Quilter's Cupboard Quilt Retreat. We had a great time! I managed to finish Mark's graduation quilt by Sunday afternoon. (Graduation was Saturday, oops!)
Mark's graduation was great. I have to say graduating in the summer from a big school is the way to go. After the ceremony we had a great lunch at Dublin Bay in Ames. The job hunt continues for Mark. I have faith it won't last long.
Sunday evening we went out to dinner at Applebees with Trip and Andy to celebrate my birthday. After presents at home we headed to the restaurant. We ordered and got our appetizer as the storms began. Mid-way through our appetizer the power went out. We ate by emergency lighting and wondered if we'd get our dinners. Well, a bit later they managed to get us our food minus fries. After dinner we headed home and found we didn't have power there either. The people across the street to the north had a tree fall in front of their garage. We had lots of little stuff littering the yard but no major issues.
Come bed time we still had no power so Adam and Kurt read by flashlight. The videos are pretty cute. Enjoy!
