What is an Iowa summer without at least one trip to the State Fair? Last night Adam and I picked up Kurt at his office and headed for an evening at the fair.
After we parked we walked through the mid-way next to the stock car races in the grandstand. Adam held his ears and decided racing was "too noisy".
Once away from the noise we headed to the mini-doughnut stand. The real reason we come to the fair.
After mini-doughnuts I was ready for a "real dinner", so we headed to the corn dogs where Adam and I enjoyed our dinner.
With the slide behind us we headed to the barns to see the animals. Adam was naming the barns by the sounds he heard as we walked in. "This is the baa-baa barn where the sheep are!" We managed to find the "big" animals and the avenue of the breeds.

On our way out of the fair we stopped in the Knapp building to see all of the babies. We met chicks, baby turkeys (what are they called?), baby ostrich, and baby pigs. My favorite was the ostrich. As Trip says, they look like a hedgehog with log legs and a neck!
On our way home we dropped Kurt off at his car which was still parked downtown. After dropping off Kurt, Adam was asleep in his seat almost immediately. Upon arriving home I got him out of his seat and he woke up long enough to say "where's Daddy?" In his room he got out of his shorts and before I could get a pull-up on him he was crawling in bed. I think he was back to sleep before the lights went out.
