Thursday, the 10th of July we headed North around noon to spend a few days at the cabin with Al and Patti as well as leave Adam there for the week. About 45 minutes up the road we were hot. The air in the Pilot decided that 152000 miles was enough. After a few calls to spots along our route, we settled on taking the Pilot into Bimidji on Friday. Having the windows down for the rest of the trip made for a noisy trip but we survived.
Fishing off the dock. Adam really wanted to catch Sunfish this trip. He's had a bit of success, but he's caught a lot more perch than anything else. He did get the thrill of catching a "big fish" before I left. He caught a carp that was the biggest fish he'd ever hooked. Not a prize fish, but big is kinda cool.
Grant never wanted to use a big pole and a real hook. His little Cars pole with the foam hook made him happy and overall lowered the stress level for the adults. He is very good at casting!
A little Perch!
There is more room to fish if we hop in the boat, even if we only decide to go 100 yards off the end of the dock.
Adam has done more trolling out on the lake since we left. He still really likes to bobber fish though.
An evening boat ride at my request.
Pelicans! We found their favorite spot on the island.
More "fishing". Grant was not at all ready to come home. He loves fishing!
Hot dogs and S'mores for lunch on Saturday.
The perk of driving to Bimidji on Friday and on Saturday for the Pilot was I found a quilt store with my name on it. It is the perfect fit! Completely my style of shop.
Some family pics before we hit the road on Sunday morning.
